June 19th is now a state holiday for employees of the state of Massachusetts. For employees in Higher Ed when "Juneteenth" falls on a weekday, all State Offices are closed. If it falls on a Sunday, the holiday is observed Monday and offices are closed. If it falls on a Saturday, the State Offices are open (on Friday) but the APA contract allows us to either take the Holiday that Friday or at a later time.

As a result of the new Massachusetts Paid Family and Medical Leave Act passed by the legislature and signed by the governor in 2018 the Commonwealth will begin taking deductions from your paycheck beginning on October 1, 2019. The deductions will be used to fund this paid leave program.
