President’s Report – Sherry Horeanopoulos

Contract updates –

  • Information sent out to campuses based on what the MSCA Librarians received even though we didn’t have a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) from the BHE
  • Working with Management to complete a one-year successor agreement once the MOU’s for COVID-19 Health & Safety and for Telework have been finalized.

from C. Santiago:

  • Higher Ed is getting one more Field Representative
  • The MTA Director for Higher Ed goes from a director to manager

We need the MTA to understand that APA requires Field Reps to assist with campus issues (as the APA chapter officers already have full-time jobs).

We still need have not received Chapter Bylaws from:

  • Massachusetts College of Art & Design
  • Massachusetts Maritime Academy
  • Salem State University

Statewide Bylaw changes being presented to the membership in November.

Membership and Data – Aaron Childs

  • 1370 Overall Membership since August 2020. An Increase of 7
  • 104 Non-Dues Paying Member. A decline of 0 since August 2020.
  • New MTA Web form from the MTA for on-boarding Dues paying members.
  • Any updates sent since July have not been processed by the MTA at this time.

Website – Liz Novak

  • Published the approved September minutes
  • Usage of website – 429 page views over the last month
  • Updated to drupal 8.9.7

Health and Welfare Report – Mike Storey

  • Mike is attending the October meeting currently.

Committee Reports – Reports postponed to next meeting

Budget Committee – Mike Storey

  • No report at this time.

Employee Relations Working Group – Mark Powers

  • Working Group meet to discuss Appendix K
  • Subsequent meetings are scheduled

Professional Development – Edward Vacha

  • NEA Virtual Conference in March 2021

Negotiations – Sherry Horeanopoulos

  • Waiting for Managements Counter Proposals for:
  • Health & Safety MOU
  • Telework MOU
  • Extension of CBA to June 30th

Old/New Business

  • FAQ of the Month for the Website for October – Contract Negotiations possibly  
  • MCLA President is now Chair of Council of Presidents (CoP)
  • Contracting Unit work when an APA position becomes vacant
  • APA Statewide Annual Meeting – November 20 , 2020 Auditors present to E-Board at 10:00am And then at Annual meeting, which occurs from 11:00am to 1:00pm Send invite to Chapter Presidents to send out to the chapter membership Create email annualmeeting@maapa.org
  • APA Policy and Procedure Manual. Still need position descriptions/duties from several campuses along with timeline & descriptions of activities/events on each campus.
