President’s Report – Seth Bean

  1. Update on APA Contract funding. Confirmed is in the Supplemental Budget request on Governor’s desk. Overall timeframe is dependent on Governor and State Legislators – House & Senate.
  2. Letter ready for Action Network to request Council of Presidents (CoP) support the funding of the MSCA and APA contracts.

Membership and Data – Aaron Childs

  1. 1347 Overall Membership since January 2022. An increase of 10.
  2. 154 Non-Dues Paying Member. An increase of 2 since January 2022.
  3. Google Suite account no longer a free service. Decision needs to by made before June regarding maintaining subscription as it will cost annually to retain current functionality.

Website – Gerol Petruzella

  1. Website Overview – Users. During January 2022, maapa.org saw decreases in both users and sessions relative to December 2021 (Figure 1). The most popular days/times for users to visit the site were Saturdays between 10a and 12p ET, then Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays between 10a and 12p ET (Figure 2).
  2. Website Overview – Traffic. Traffic to maapa.org was predominantly direct traffic or the result of a Google search (Figure 3). The top 10 most visited pages are indicated (Figure 4).
  3. Website Overview – Other. I performed several content updates on the site per request.
    1. Updated Officer Information for state-wide board and local chapters, responsive to most recent elections.

  4. Governor’s update to masking mandate and what it means for BSU/state universities and letter to College Presidents (R. Bernier/Bridgewater)
    Salem ending mask mandate on February 28th.
  5. When the initialed contract is received, will printed copies be available soon after. And how quickly can an accessible pdf be added to the Association’s website?
    Yes, a limited number of copies will be printed/bound. An accessible pdf will also be added to the Association’s website.
  6. Employee at Westfield now a NUP but still wants NEA Benefits.
    NEA Direct Reserve Membership is membership shall be open to any person (i) who is on a leave of absence of at least six (6) months from the employment that qualifies him or her for Active membership or (ii) who has held Active or Educational Support membership in the Association but whose employment status no longer qualifies that individual for such membership.
  7. NEA-RA 2022 – Location to be yet determined (Possibly Chicago). Sherry Horeanopoulos needs to submit names of delegates before the end of February.
