Dear Members,
I’ve drafted this message more times than I can count—each version filled with frustration, anger, and the deep disappointment I know many of you are feeling about the continued delay in our contract funding. Each time, I scrapped it and started over, because those emotions need to be directed to those who can make a difference: our legislators, the media, and the public. The update follows below.
The FY25 Supplemental Budget, which contains our contract funding, is currently with the House Ways and Means Committee. At this point, it’s unclear whether the bill is moving forward or stalled. We’ve reached out to our contacts and hope to have clarity soon.
In the meantime, we’re beginning to plan a coordinated action to advocate for our funding. We’re working with our colleagues at MTA, and this type of effort is typically done in collaboration with other state employee unions that are also affected by the delay. Organizing something like this takes time, but I’ll keep you updated as things develop.
Thank you for all you do—for our students, our campuses, and for each other.
In solidarity,
Rosa
