2/27/25 Contract Funding Update

Dear APA Members,

As your Chapter President and Statewide Vice President, I would like to share a quick update on where our contract is in the process of getting the funding released for our increases. As usual our CBA was delayed for some time between the offices of Administration and Finance and the Dept. of Higher Ed; while they did the salary costing analysis and build up and came to a consensus on the calculations for funding.

Finally, on Friday evening 2/21/2025 a transmittal letter was crafted and presented to Governor Maura Healey by the Commissioner of the DOE, Noe Ortega, along with our CBA. The next step in the process is for Governor Healey to sign our CBA and put it forward for inclusion in the next supplemental budget. The House and Senate Ways and Means Committee are aware that our CBA is finalized and will be coming to them, hopefully in the next spending bill.

I know we are all eager to see these increases as soon as possible; I want you all to be aware that we may not see them until April or May. There is still the agonizing process of waiting while the House and Senate read and re-read a spending bill until they have agreement. Hopefully, whichever supplemental that our contract is included in will not be filled with contentious funding asks, that will hold our CBA and our increases hostage.

Our Contract will cover from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2027, and increases will be paid retro to Jan 2025.

When I have any further updates I will let you know. If it seems like we need to do an action letter I will let you know that as well.

Please watch for future updates.

Please be well, In Solidarity
